This is a curated summary of official KOTAMON announcements, checked on August 29, 2026. Entries use announcement dates rather than invented patch numbers. They focus on changes that affect playing and using this site's guides; livestream announcements and promotional posts are not treated as gameplay patches.

August 27, 2026: Card exchanges and bug fixes

The developer clarified that three duplicate cards of matching quality can be exchanged for a better-quality card, including foil cards. The exchange system already existed at release; this update added a tutorial and clearer interface cues, including a yellow highlight and an upgrade button. It was not the first introduction of the mechanic.

The announcement also reports a fix for cereal boxes disappearing around store purchases or entry/exit. Kotalion can no longer be sold, removing the repeat-sale money loop described in older advice. Other notes address collection displays, localization and cosplay-case behavior.

Guide impact: review duplicate handling in the Cards Hub, the changed purchase behavior in Cereal Boxes, and the outdated farming warning in Money.

August 22, 2026: Camera settings and collection changes

This announcement added an option to disable mouse smoothing and noted adjustable field of view. It also increased the chances of finding cereal boxes, figurines and cosplay cases without publishing numerical drop rates.

For players who have maxed all character attributes, the documented cereal-box purchase price at Jenny's shop became $10,000. The announcement also reported trash-bag fixes, localization changes and additional Supporter Pack wallpapers.

Guide impact: use Cereal Boxes for acquisition requirements and Upgrades for the character-progression connection. The Figurines guide retains the distinction between a collection target and a guaranteed spawn route.

August 21, 2026: Balance, saves and achievements

The first major post-release fix adjusted shop prices and increased card and fragment appearances. The developers reported work on save/load interface crashes and added autosaving when opening a new trash heap, alongside saving on exit.

The announcement explicitly said it could not restore progress already lost to crashes. It also described the demo-to-release reset of money and upgrades as intentional while retaining card collection progress. These are historical patch notes, not a guarantee that every later save issue has been solved.

Some achievement checks were corrected, including the white-card set and the all-upgrades achievement. The patch also allowed a valuable item put in the crusher to be picked up again.

Guide impact: start with the preservation steps in Save Not Working, and compare collection targets in Achievements. Do not delete a save to imitate the demo transition.

Announced plans are not released features

The August 27 post described Steam Community Items as submitted for approval and a larger content expansion as planned. This page does not mark either as available on the strength of that announcement. Future plans can change; check the official news feed for a subsequent release confirmation.
